Every year during the Long (Summer) Vacation when there are no student shows, the ADC undergoes a week-long period of deep maintenance where general housekeeping tasks are performed in and on the theatre. In return for paying college accommodation costs and providing food a team of students are invited by the theatre management to bring the theatre back to working order.
This year’s tasks included:
- Fixing a broken counterweight pulley and putting new steel wire on all the counterweights.
- Running new VGA, BNC and speaker cables from the roof void to the SM desk and upstage services wall box.
- Repainting the orchestra pit and the FOH toilets.
- Replacing the Clubroom entry lock keypad.
Luckily CAMP always occurs the first week after the Easter term ends so there are no lectures, supervisions or classes, so I wouldn’t count my week at CAMP as procrastination!
